Letters to Paul

The themes of these pieces are places in the West Country we knew well, and revisit time and time again, making new memories as well as old. Unfortunately loved ones depart, and sometimes all that are left are the places where those memories live on. Lino-cut felt like the perfect medium to hark back to those traditional styles you’d see with landmarks like these, such as illustrated companion guides. The use of black and green is symbolic of what still stands. The blue skies the ether beyond, we can never truly grasp. And finally gold is symbolic for the spirit that still glistens even afterwards.
